Andre wrote:Like Ihave said when I introduced myself, I am new to finches. The problem that I have is catching them, either to ring or to take juveniles out. I battle with the normal ring and net. (Bad reflexes  ). Is there mabe an easier way to catch them? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks
Maybe I didnt read the post clearly enough, I will clarify:

If he is new to finch owning- im going to guess he doesnt have a walk in aviary....He didnt post the dimensions of the enclosure...
but if it is roughly the length of arm with net deep/wide then this is a viable option. Lights should not be out... but should be extremely dim. Depending on the number of birds, there should be no issue. The method should result in a single swipe. With this method I have never, ever had an injury.

However yes- I would never preform in a extended walk-in aviary. Sorry for any confusion.

I tried trapping birds while feeding but it worked only for a short period , they learn too quickly and I could not catch a dozen of Zebras.
My aviary is 4m x 1.5x 2m so I get an old curtain and nail it around aviary frame to separate 1/3 of aviary and than catch them with net.
It works for me. Some still escape as curtain stays a bit loose in some spots. Good luck.
