The following cages were kindly lent to the FSA for the Sydney Royal, however upon opening I realise they are not finch show cages.

I have no idea about Canary show cages or Canaries in general for that matter. Can some kind AFF member please explain the various cages for me?

I told yesterday that the Qld style finch show cage fronts are able to be adapted to suit the NSW size show cages. Note: Previous submissions of this type of show cage front was rejected by NSW.
The problem is that the flat punch bar and the 1.56mm ?? wire is near impossible to find. Infact was told that copper wire?? painted black was used a substitute. The Qld style cage fronts now use 2mm?? wire then powder coated black to suit the finch show cages. These Qld style cage fronts cost $5 each plus powder coating black about $6 each ( not sure of the exact pricing due to volume of order) total of $11 per cage front.
Is this information I was told, correct?
Why not change the show standard to include this new type of wire cage front for an interim period of time, until the flat bar sourcing issue is address. Then, there is problem of finding someone to build and paint the show cages to 'NSW show standards' remembering to factor in the price of materials (wood, paint, cages fronts) needed to make each show cages, will indeed be expensive one.
