As you would know over here in the west there are no such thing as wild caught. Maybe that is the difference. Rare occassions where a bought in bird has a problem, before release, it has it's legs cleaned daily with a dettol and cooking oil mix. Till clean as a whistle.

Dettol is a Brand name disinfectant that works very well on mite on birds when diluted with oil. Also works very well on human injuries, but stings when applied undiluted.

Thanks, finchbreeder. Dettol, spray disinfectant is Glen20.
The Dettol liquid disinfectant is interesting.

Was really hoping the liquid disinfectant would be like Lysol over in the states. The Dettol Glen20 is similar to Lysol spray disinfectant. The Dettol liquid does seem like something good to have on hand since it can be applied to wounds. Lysol can not. However, I enjoy the hospital clean aroma of Lysol.

Dettal is an antiseptic and a disinfectant. That is why it is dual use.
