All going well so far. I had a quick look yesterday and the are growing well.

The hen is very attentive and sits with them non stop.

They are proving to be not as easy to feed as the Internet suggests. I can only get them to eat egg and biscuit, apple, chikory, bok choy, sunand safflower plus canary seed. They will eat no other seeds. Im trying to value load the diet for the young.

Congratulations, they are lovely birds. A species I definitely want to get involved with one day.

Mum stopped sitting as frequently so I decided to pick one of the young up for a visual.

Crop had food in it so I am hoping all is well.

I noted the bigger bird seems to have red eyes and yellow looking pin feathers.

A lutino would be great! but not sure how I would get one from two supposedly green birds of which one was split turq and the other possible split turq!

Well done, there really is a size difference in them but so long as they are being fed i suppose it doesn't matter. If you have bred a lutino the cock must be split and i'm pretty sure that yellow one will be a hen. Does turk mean turquoise. Craig

yup turquoise

Ill be ringing them soon. The red eyes is a give away for the ino gene.

According to the gene calc I have a 1 in five chance of breeding a lutino bird (phenotype) snf 12 percent chance of creamino....thats assuming the birds are the colour split we think they are.

So my rooster is either split ino or split turquoise split ino with a ????over the hens genes as she was a possible split turquoise.

Hopefully I get the chance to test breed some more...maybe the second chicks colour will shed some light.

This Lineolated Parakeet website has a genetic calculator which will give the likely outcomes for various colour mutation combinations (I've used it in the past). Hope it helps
