Thanks made some today 2 x 60cm x 30 cm and 2 x 30cm x30cm packed with paperbark grass and coconut fibre cut holes in them thanks for your advice should I fill them up and let the birds push the grass around or let them build and fill in where necessary

Give them lots of lengths of grass and watch the action. Hopefully that will be sufficient. But worst case the odd bird will need a little assistance.

Well hung the 4 cage nests and within 2 minutes the red stars were in it I also have boxes and cane baskets which the birds weren't interested in

I'm not sure I have filled them properly on the inside I put paper bark around the base and on the inside of the wire all the way to the top then from the base a grass level then a coconut fibre layer and put some more paper bark on the top of the cylinder and left room to build a nest at the the entry holes any suggestions

mine made out of the dog wire 100mm sq.... old xmas tree branches with november grass...birds have put most of the grass into this one...has about 8 nests in it
