Pekin Robin.

First breeding with them as a youngster in Holland some 50 yrs ago in a mixed aviary.
Love them for their song, colours and inquisitive nature. Used to eat out of my hand.

Birdkeepers then, and even still some today, opened their aviaries when they had young in the nest so they could go out and collect food for their chicks.
Saw them again at the World show and some of the birdsales but people were not prepared to pay EU 300 pp. Oh if only.

Pictorella. Don't have any at the moment but when I did they were great birds.
At the moment I'm really enjoying my Plum-heads and Yellow-rumps. Can't go wrong with Cordons either.

Lets be honest - they are all wonderful in slightly different ways. I love trying out new species, being obsessed with one for awhile, then wishing you never sold those others and searching for a pair like crazy - thats all part of the fun!

What I've learned from this post is that most of us can't narrow it down to a single species.

(I'd really like to do an opposite thread; "which species do you most dislike?," but I think it would cause too much drama...)

Species I dislike most does not have feathers. :mouse: Is mice. :mouse: Being surrounded by bush they are an annual problem, which is why I encourage everyone to build mouse proof avairys right from the start. Then you only have to figure out how to mouse proof the house. :shifty:
