Would love to see a video of the creek in action, or pics of the birds enjoying the creek.
Is it basically a large wedge of sand with a waterproof liner on top, then river rocks on top of that? Is there a pump that runs the water from bottom to top?
I used packing sand to shape the bed then covered it with pool liner and river rocks. At the bottom is a submerged container with the pump in it that delivers the water to the top.
Jack
Awesome thanks!

hi jack you have obviously put a lot of thought into your aviary rejuvenation. I too had trellis when I first started, the birds in a mates aviary loved it yet I found when they all perched there they pooped on each other. the way you are using it now allows for heaps of nesting material to be located on the walls. I see you have stuck to to the overhead cylinders these must have been a success. The palms are for looks or do they serve a purpose im missing love the centre matress of brush. we are still yet to see the creek bed running. Could you please elaborate on anything I missed and give us some feedback on your breeding results and the type of birds you intend to house. john

Jack is probably in bed

but i do know those date palms come up every where in his back yard from a large date palm over the road. I'm pretty sure the dates/seeds are dropped by flying bats and the seeds self germinate.

Hi John,Craig is right about the Palms they pop up all around the place, these ones came up about 2 years after the aviary was built even though it is enclosed with tin in the sheltered area and wire with shade cloth on top of the wire on the outside area. The seeds must of been in the ground for some time.I use the trellis in all my aviaries as I've found them convenient for the finches to roost on,much like stress perches. The overhead cylinders were very successful so I've used them again,I found that most of my birds nested in the outside part of the aviary where there is plenty of light rather than in the back of the aviary, makes sense, finches nest in the open where the sun shines. The centre matress of brush is for birds that like to build low to the ground,Jackarinis,Pictorellas...At the moment there is a pair of Chats,Crimsons,Turquoisine parrots and a couple of canaries,I use the canaries as teachers, they find the food and water and the other birds follow, helps with nervous birds.I have a colony of Tri Coloured parrot finches in one of my aviaries so I'll pull 3 or 4 pairs out and put them in this one, also adding Cordons,Strawberries,Red Siskins,Double bars,Gouldians for now.As for the creek running I don't know how to post a video,I can post on Facebook but not on the Forum.
