Again i read that a person is reluctant to put water into an aviary because he would end up with a wet floor.
So what, I have a reasonably large aviary complex housing some of the rarer species and I flood water during hot weather.
In fact on very hot days the bore comes on at 7am and off at 8pm. Normally the timer is set for 5 x 40min sections.
I do not have a worm problem or any other problem due to water.
On very hot days like here today 40+C most birds went to ground where it is cooler and only moving to feed or drink at the pond which
has running water. No losses due to heat,a few young out on the floor early but they will survive. If you have metal clad aviaries that are unlined
wet the floor because it will be like an oven inside.

Agree with E Orix all metal clad aviaries should be lined reduces heat in summer stops condensation in winter

mr skeeter/davlee - this one is better (IMO) than the Holman one sold in Bunnings, they are LOW pressure system & the Holman mister heads fit if replacement ones required.

david its a huge difference what most breeders have compared to your large open aviary, nico thats great and i appreciate your imput i will be getting one of those misting systems, even though i didn't lose any birds with 42 dg heat and also all my young have got through very well, cheers

Good decision, it cools but also puts some humidity into the air.
At 8.30am it was 37C as for now no idea as I am staying inside.

Dave, if you have the power give it a go & let us know the results. Fan's are often used in Bird rooms so to keep the air moving.

Plenty of alternatives discussed above, although I don't think any answered your question.

Gday nico just fitted all my aviaries with a misting system and i am very impressed the way it works with the very hot days coming iv got it up in time. thanks for your input pal. hope all bird people get through this hot summer. cheers
