Brodhi, these days having normal budgies is almost rare. :D
Almost everyone wants to breed something different.
So always keep a few of those normals. My mother does and she's old enough to be your gran.

Finchbreeder, I do like my Dominant Pieds just havnt found one good enough to retain as of yet but gettin there. I really like my new DF Spangle hen I bought from Geoff Tonkin though. And also have some birds from local breeder Nigel Tonkin!!

Brodhi! A young man with excellent taste. I keep telling my mother that dominant pieds are the best budgies. :D
But before you go disposing of the "ordinary" looking dominants, remember they sometimes produce the best young.
The mystery of pied budgies is that the pied gene can produce less or occassionally more than the parent displays. So ideal breeding is not always 2 perfectly marked birds.

i used to be a budgiue breeder of showing them. i concentrated on the recessive pieds and did quite well with them on the bench too.
would like to get back into them

Really enjoy the shows, meeting new people etc.

I am hoping that once I get to now you, Gomer, a bit more I might be able to come and take a squiz at your magnificent setup and possibly buy a few birds. :D

In the not to didtant future I would like keep and breed the following finches:

Stars
Double- bars
Gold Breast Waxbill
Red-face Parrotfinches
Blue-face " "
Gouldian, normal and white breated
Emblemas
Black Hearts
Cordons

and maybe some other pair later on :)

I know that this has probably been explained somewhere else :? but could you please tell me the current finch species you have and which ones you plan on getting in the near future?
