am planning on having a few of eachgrass type in the aviary and will be making some light weight covers for them so all I need to do is move a cover from one plant to the next. got tired of having to move pots around all the time

have started thinking that I should have run 8mm galv cable/wire for the climbers instead of trellis wire. not sure if the trellis wire will cope with all the weight when the plants reach full size

For a low thickly bushy native shrub Westringia (Coastal Rosemary) is great too, grows quickly, will grow anywhere and doesn't need lots of water. Can be trimmed to a ball shaped shrub or hedge, only grows to a height of 1 to 2 meters.
Should have put a pic of the plant in before,Didn't think of it

Do the birds actually eat the Purple fountain grass? Ive had one in a tub in the aviary and they dont seem too bothered with it. What about swamp foxtail? They like that?
Was it easy to find the african feathergrass?

hey diane. from what i have read the fountain grass seed heads are sterile that could be why they are nit eating them.. and becareful african feather grass been deemed a noxious weed so if you find some beware it could have been spayed to kill it. have you tried panic grass....pete

my birds stripped the purple fountain grass as soon as a seed head appears. they do the same with feathergrass as well. feathergrass is real easy to grow from seed. as pete mentioned panic grass is good. I guess when it comes down to it any seeding type grass is worth a try, he birds will decide which they are going to eat
