Last year was the first time I had bred gouldians. So they just did their own thing.
This year I know a bit more about the species and the genetics so Im attempting to control the pairings a bit more, given the limited number of aviaries and cages I have available.
I have three pairs that each have an aviary or flight to themselves so no worries about who are the parents in those cases. In the other cases I paired up the birds in a smaller cage and kept them together for a month or so then I released them into the main aviary one pair at time. It seems like it has worked, each bird keeps with the bird I paired it with and chases any others.

In my gouldian aviary there are 4 pairs, soon to be five. I either quartine them in their desired pairs or leave them isolated in the pair, so far that has worked for me.
