Only a guess but could it be Pied as Red-faced and Sea-Greens Pied will have yellow beaks.

Will have to remember this as my RFPF normal cock and pied seagreen pied hen have just hatched some babies
Excuse my ignorance  .....can you get a pied blue face parrot finch? Will have to google for pics :D

The BFPF hen is from a local breeder in the Barossa and both her parents were blue head green normal
The cock is from forum member grumpz so I would have to check with him re the colour of the parents.

Ah Yes but don't forget those sneaky recessive genes that can hide for generations. So it is still a slim possibility.

BFPF young 001.jpg
This is the second clutch of BFPF, they hatched 30 June.
I think I have one cock bird and two hens in this clutch. Red leg band is the male (according to my "beak theory") Thats him on the left.

I have moved them into a six foot long cabinet as they were causing a riot in the aviary. Their father was chasing them all over and the resulting chaos seemed to be upsetting the YH gouldian pair in the same aviary.
Im happy to report another four eggs in the BFPF nest box. Probably accounts for all the chasing! They certainly dont waste any time.

Update.
The three youngsters are doing well, there is definitely a male in there I have heard the trilling. Probably accounts for the cock bird (father) chasing.
:?: How early do these birds mature? If Im right and he is in the cage with his two clutch mates (I believe hens) how soon should I separate them?
They hatched 30th June.

Note on the parents, they laid four more eggs and it looks like three are fertile. :D

Blue Faced Parrot Finches will mature very very quickly possibly even quicker than Cubans.
Young bred early even mid breeding season will nest and raise chicks that same season so pull the young out other wise you will not have any control over them.Ring the parents as well.
That is why I tell people to buy Parrot Finches from a known person as in my experience Blues breed well in their 1st and 2nd year and by the 3rd they are struggling to rear small clutches. They still look great even at 5+ years old but useless as breeders.
Once the chicks have left the nest no matter what feather condition they are they will not go back to the nest.
If they fledge alittle under done place a leafy branch on the aviary floor and they will roost in it until they can fly better.
As far as I can recollect they all fledge with yellow beaks and are very noisy.
