Sadly too many bird keepers suffer from ignorant unthinking cat owners. It is their responsibility to keep their pets on their own property.
Ask the majority of cat owners if their cats kill wild life or are pests fighting at night and you generally get the same answer
"OH MY CAT DOESN'T WANDER OR LEAVE OUR PLACE IT'S TOO WELL LOOKED AFTER" rubbish!!!!!!!!!!!
Personally I would love someone to release Feline Enteritis and wipe the lot out,our wild life would love it as well.
After years of trapping and dispatching cats I went out and bought a cattle electric fence unit and strung tape around the perimeter(top) of my aviaries.
Today no problem on my aviaries just those wandering around. To cat lovers who disagree with disposing cats on your property bad luck,if they were genuinely concerned they would keep their cats looked up inside at night and in runs during the day.

Easy to keep cats in these days , you can buy for around $100 the collar and marker thingy that shocks them if they go outside the set perimeter . In my days of cat keeping it was even easier and free , feed them at night then into the laundry with water and kitty litter tray ....way easy .
Yes Eorix some sort of infectious disease and wipe them out would be the answer , funny how they tried with rabbits , you cant even own a pet rabbit in Qld and as much damage as rabbits have done over the years cats have done as much if not more damage.
Had to have a giggle about the " my cat doesnt wander " remark...I had a lady come to my door once with a vet bill for an ulcer on her cats neck caused by my cat , I told her ,her cat was always in my yard to which i got the NOT MY CAT reply ....asked her to come out the back to my back verandah where guess who was sunning itself on my deck chair YES her cat . Needless to say I didnt pay the bill.

I am assuming you are talking about the cattle type electric fence.
You can get a solar powered unit.
My brother has it for his horses, and before that he used a
12 volt car battery with a solar panel.
Only good cat is a flat cat.

I tolerate our cat because it's such a good vermin catcher but if it goes anywhere near the birds it gets a size 9 up its date. Needless to say I haven't seen her even look at the birds in months. They do seem to remember how painful a boot in the arse can be.

Back when we had cats it was a swipe along side the ear if they looked the wrong way at the avairys. They learnt, but unfortunately the wild birds were not so lucky, and got bought home and presented to us. So when the cats passed away they were replaced with the Jack Russell, who is a better rodent catcher anyway.

even with my hatred of cats (good for nothing mongrels they are) my other half & the kids claim to own one.
it doesnt go near the back yard though ( it was taught a very painful lesson by a cat hating blue heeler :D )
just found out today though that my new neighbours have 4 cats, so I will be making some cat traps this weekend.
am planning to be a good neighbour and help them to save some money ( no more buying cat food for them  )
