I have found that my finches love Tea Tree and Grevillea.

I have these in pots inside the nursery and I rotate them with similar trees. When I asked the lady at my local Nursery which native trees were best suited for finches she told me the trees I have as finches can be very destructive to plants and these trees/bushes bounce back very well.
The finches love to get into the trees/bushes and pull off leaves and some of the bark. It keeps them entertained for hours.

The Grevillea is beginning to flower and will look nice inside the aviary.

Hope this helps when you pick thay aviary plant.

Paperbark and river sand both good for birds and potting up succulentsand hoyas. Only trouble is the river banks are quite steep in places and sliding A over T is not very much fun. And not practical to go in winter. Not that winter lasts more than 6 or 7 weeks round here.
