5th quarrion bub didnt quite make it out of the shell , kinda think 4 is going to be enough to deal with however still 2 eggs unhatched and still in good time frame for hatching .
All neophemas have dissapeared both parents sitting during this cold weather so assumes theres eggs or bubs ...finches pfft

I noticed the BFPF hen jumping about on the floor of the aviary, she was that wet after bathing she couldnt get back up to the nest box, so I took advantage and had a peek, 3 more babies!

Should I be taking the BFPF cock out of the aviary to give the hen a break from the stresses of raising babies? I did notice while I was locking up last night the cock was chasing the hen, nothing violent but she ended up submitting to him. Her babies are only maybe a week old in the nest. So even if I take the male out its possible that she would have another clutch and then she would have to rear on her own creating even more stress.

maybe remove the eggs if you are able and then remove the cock bird

Ok, so as these babies are out the nest any more eggs will be taken away. How long after the present clutch of babies fledge should I remove the cock?

to be safe wait until you have seen them feeding themselves, hope the hen doesnt lay to many eggs in the meantime though

Sounds like spring is in the air, my painted firetails have been nesting for awhile but still no babies, the zebras have got babies (again) but its great to see some life in the nests they are a "happy" bird (the zebras are in a seperate aviary of my daughters).
With your quails they are exciting and look like those easter chickens when hatched and running around. But be aware the males are aggressive and will quite often kill the young if not seperated or closely watched.

I did read a lot about that and consequently my male quail have been subject to an investigation that would put the CIA, FBI and ASIO to shame
