He might get a different view as he opens up the front door if VR1Ton hasnt forgiven him....VR1Ton might have relocated him down the road.
He will feel just awful about the loss of the bird.

All avaries and bird rooms should be built with safety doors. But sometimes this is not practical. And sometimes the speedy little critters still manage to get round us. Very sorry to hear about your loss.

The aviary is going on 30 years in some shape or form, Metal house replacing timber, new wire ect, but never quite got to putting a safty door in, & may be a little difficult for the old boy to get in & out of as the door is faily narrow, and after 3 knee replacements on the same knee, he does have a bit of difficulty manovering about in safty flights, so it'll have to wait till the bank manager says I can build some new ones.

it's a bummer when you lose a bird! i lost a breeding pair of redbrows when my mum didn't latch the door properly. they were the only birds in there, thankfully. worst loss that was my fault was when i left a 44 gallon drum near one of my aviaries, and a fox jumped up in the night and took one of my adult peacocks which used to roost on the roof. gutted.

Sorry to hear of the loss.

My mistake was not fixing a aviary to the ground some years ago. looked great in the middle of the yard, but a strong wind storm blew it over and all my budgies, 10 of them, flew out the bottom. The aviary sat there for some weeks before i calmed down enough to up right it and move it to the back of the yard remaining empty for a year or two.

I had an aviary blown over too. fortunately a tree behind it caught it part way so it only opened up a 2 foot gap at the front. Only. Lost breeding pairs of Plummies, Diamond Fires, Stars, Painteds and a whole bunch of others.

Morning after the really strong winds we had in Adelaide a couple of weeks ago I went out to find one of my aviaries had moved about 3 inches on one side, and that was pegged down! I was worried that the quail hen has gone missing as the movement had made the aviary slide off the pavers a bit and there was enough space for a quail to squeeze through. All ok though...phew!

sorry to hear about all losses

Our dog once pushed a 1 - foot square hole in my aviary wire! amazingly, no escapes :o
she was told off very promptly and banished to her kennel, and we double wired the bottom half.
