I know it is hard but hang in there.
As long as you learn from the set backs.
Also living in a city can be limiting as well.
Keep that enthuisiasm going and when your aviary is finished you will be able to sit back and watch your birds.

Cats can be a real pain in town and out of town,You are in a good position to minimise attacks from predators,With the design and building of your new aviary. You could either tell the neighbours you are having a problem with their cat,And hope they are responsable enough to lock it up at night.( The day time attacks ? may not have been the cat,as casualtys should be less of a problem during the day in a proper enclosure) Or plan B get a cat trap from your local council and let them deal with it.This may help in the interium. Also i would hang off on any replacements untill you have sorted out your problem.Anyhow I am sure there are many if not all off us who have had simular problems as you are experiancing,And I am sure you will work out a solution very quikly.

yep. I am going to go either today or tomorrow, or basically the next time I can hear that they're home and talk to them about it... yes daytime attacks (not on MY bird) are happening, as I posted earlier about the magpie lark in a different topic.
I have absolutely no plans for replacements having seen the way these 2 have gone, but all the same I'll hope my quails will be OK.

5 weeks will go slowly I know. But it's worth it to do it right. Then you can begin again with the right environment and the risks eliminated. And just think. In time for Christmas pressies of the small feathered type.
