Thanks everyone :D
We still only have 3 eggs in the small aviary., 2 I out of the nest and one in. I kind of cracked it yesterday and had to clean, I really couldn't handle it so I removed the half of the paper the eggs werent on and changed thaat then carefully laid new stuff straight over the old where the eggs were by using a piece of bark to steady the eggs the slid the paper under slowly so the eggs barely moved and I never touched them with my hands... Everyone was very happy and dad started rolling the eggs about half an hour later which meant I obviously didnt stress him too much.. So now we just wait for more I guess :)
We also swapped their feed to a mix of layer pellets, finch seed and egg shell and they went nuts!! Lol they were getting excited as soon as I opened the bag of layer pellets, it was so funny. I'm also giving them a fresh mix daily of corn, carrot, broccoli and boc choy sprinkled with meal worms and millet seeds and all the birds seem to love it so I'm a very happy mummy at the moment.... Atleast I was until I got up this morning n found out that my black faced gouldian hen died....
Over the last two months she had been deteriorating slowly, sleeping alot during the day, fluffed up, lost all her color and basically lived on the ground eating and drinking AND NESTING with the quails.. She received antibiotics daily andno one else seemed the slightest bit ill.. We took her out about a week ago because she was looking really bad and she just got worse n I knew yesterday she would be gone in about 24hrs :( I'm putting it down to old age since I got her from a pet shop and have no idea how old she was and with nothing visibly wrong with her and the fact no1 else in the aviary was effected.. It's a sad day but i have plenty of other birds to keep me happy n between the 2 aviaries everyone else couldn't possibly be any healthier or happier as far as I'm concerned :)
