The house next door to us has a yard full of native trees and shrubs which is where the honey eaters breed and live , perhaps they see our birds
as encrouching on there territory but I can assure you that they are a real hazzard for our birds.

yeah sorry Greg, didn't mean to say they can't be trouble, just that not all of them are... like us environmentalists with dreadlocks

No offence taken Spanna and if you could see the top of my head you would appreciate that while I might not want to
grow dreadlocks any sort of hair would be good.
Di I think our honey eaters are smaller than in your photo, someone from this side[ the right side] may be able to give a better
answer. We are always up around 6am and the Honey E are at the avairy.

The "greenies" type honeyeaters from the bush over my back fence have been known to make complete pains in the !@#$ of themselves with my birds too. Mum says they only bother her finches and canaries not the bigger birds. Occassional bigger native honeyearers and insect eaters do not give trouble. Are these the ones that are bugging you Greg?

Hi Spanna, just read your post. Sorry about your bird getting injured. it must have been terrifying for it. It is in capable hands though if your baby painteds are anything to go by! Good luck and keep us posted.

Spanna I've got nearly a whole roll of that Bunnings orchard mesh which you can have if you havn't already bought some. Will pm you my mobile if you want to pick it up. How's your bird today?

Peggie ( ) is looking well today, hopping around (yes, another pun!!) and back up on her feet (foot!!). she's been demolishing green seed heads so i'm feeling positive for her

Peggie is good ( peg leg pun was good too ) good name .

Glad to hear all is going well with Peggie, thats a massive surprise that she survived this trauma.

We had a Gouldian get out into out bird lock walk way in our old aviary set up, unfortunately got his leg caught in a mouse trap and died soon after from the shock of it all.

It such a surprise, but a good one, for you and hopefully all keeps going well. Fingers crossed for you.
