Well looking at that list you can safely keep Gouldians, Courdons, Stars and Canaries together. Recommend you plant one corner of your avairy heavily for the Courdons, and put a selection of different nests arround the avairy, but not too close to each other. Good luck and hope to see some pics in the future. If it is not practical to plant part of the avairy, a selection of potted plants placed together is good.

I agree with F/B, javas are beautiful but too large for my liking in a finch collection.

Ill second that agreement, a great selection, very colourful and always busy darting around the aviary.
Good luck and looking forward to seeing plenty of pictures of your set up and birds.

As long as you do your homework regarding husbandry. Some of the ones mentioned I would also recommend. Goulds, emblemas, Stars. All easy to keep and breed. And also easy to sex. But as mentioned @ about $50 to $60 a pr they hopefully are in the budget.

If you particularly like Javas you could keep 1 pair, however with the other types it would be safe to keep a couple of pair. Javas are bigger, and despite the belief of many are not overly aggressive if there is plenty of room and a couple of feeding stations.

ok cool

I have nothing against Javas, I love them but their size would make me wary especially in a mixed collection.

Their size does make them scary but I've not had any trouble with them but I've only ever kept them with cut-throats and hanging parrots but I don't think they would hurt the other birds. My small colony continues to grow and I think they they do better in numbers than pairs but that may just be my inability to sex them.
