Tank water or town Water

Long term use of stuff like Chlorhexidine and Virkon-s is to be discouraged big time..............what it is doing to the gut of the bird is anyones guess...........we simply wash our seed in it these days and then rinse/wash it out never used in water bowls (except when washing them of course!!).
Chlorhexidine came to favour around the time of the AIDS scare I believe as it was used in Red cross classes to wash mouthpieces and the likes........would you really want your birds drinking a product used for that long-term?
Feel your hands the next time you are handling/using chlorhexidine products.........

Only things to go in our bird water bowls are wormers and Apple Cider Vinegar and nought else - except clean water!!

Also if you do have a problem that may respond to chlorhexidine treatments (whatever that might be!!) then your birds would be so used to it that it may have little effect.

But again if it works for you go for it...........but me thinks you could be setting the scene for worse troubles........
