The javan munias we have in Oz now vary to a huge degree purity wise and have been sent photos of wild birds recently that are identical to the ones presently here.............however it is often in their behaviour that we see the differences.

A delightful bird and maybe better a good looking hybrid than crossing it off the list of available exotics here in Oz altogether!!!

Guess the trick is to keep them looking true to that type...........the hard bit!!

Ah well, lets stir the pot some more. The bird looks pure and the breeder says it is. Get real, you don' t know unless you do a genetic test. You all have to go on trust all the time. So thats fine. Trust is part of the parcel. Most people are trustworthy.

Yep F/B and this is where a good network of contacts comes in handy . Bird clubs can steer you in the right direction of an honest breeder and then you have to ask questions , if the answers don't add up then walk away .

These days with many breeds / species its getting harder and harder to find pure birds , not only in finches but also the parrots that have done the mutation loop , very hard to find pure birds at times .
