Deb,
I have found that late July I start to up the ante on food varieties, my birds seemed to be triggered into thinking, weel its that time of year and start looking for nesting material and claiming their terriitory. I stop this about late march unless i have a lot of young in nests. I still give some treats but I only give one of something for the week, such as endive then the next week something different leb cucumber and so on until early July. I have found no matter the weather conditions they know when they get extra treats its time to start partnering up. Theonly I change for the finches I give some "fatty seeds" to help through winter
