They fledged a few days ago,Not the best weather here to be fledging. One lot are all accounted for, the other lot there was one out then two the next day,The third is not in the box nor have i seen him in the aviary yet.

They are feed a normal dry finch mix,Daily chitted millets with a bit of corn, carrot and peas in it.And some would have access to live food as they are in mixed aviarys,Although I very much doubt the eat any. They get the odd seeding grass aswell, But that's it nothing to special at all.

I have just got my first clutch out which has survived this season after a few heartbreaking incidents. (Dead chicks in nest, failed handrising etc). Compared to last year this is a dead set failure. I had three pairs of goulds in a small aviary 1.4mx1.0mx1.4 with painteds and stars and got 20 goulds plus stars and painted. Built a new avairy of 3 flights 900 wide, 1800 deep and 1800 tall with covered nesting areas with boxes and ti tree. Now have 6 pairs of goulds 2 pairs of stars and 2 pairs of painteds. So far have 3 gould chicks which have fledged and a nest of painted with chicks and another nest about time to hatch. As for the Stars, forget it. Not even an inkling of display etc. The weather in Sydney has been absolute s..t. Dry, wet, hot, dry, wet even my garden doesn't know what's going on. If you are doing well anywhere with anything I envy you. Maybe next year :( :(
