Wouldn't you need a shed even more then?
My hubby has a, lets call it a "relaxed" aspect to keeping the shed tidy

so there will be a line marked in the sand, or concrete in this case between the birds and the tools.

For me it's not so much the being marrie daspect that forces the need for a shed but more the bi product of neing married, kids! The little buggers don't leave me alone. I have to sneak out quietly, but I only have about 5min till they work out I'm gone and come looking for me.
Yes , I agree space is a big issue with parrots, but unless you are breeding in cabinets it's not that much better for finches. A decent sized flight housing 3 or 4 pairs of mixed finches is not that much smaller then 3 parrot flights housing a pair each. Then you still need the extras flights for the young, the quarintined, the sick etc.
I think if there is a shift from parrots to finches it would be more to do with noise and purchase costs. The upkeep is dearer for parrots too, but the maintance / daily routine is the same.
The down side to parrot keeping is there is a noticable trend to make money. Birds are being handraised for pets, and the pet market is quite big, and breeders are pumping out the numbers by taking chicks early or even eggs and encouraging the parents to nest again. The market is being flooded and birds are forgeting how to ne birds.

Yes totally agree . Once upon a time the only people hand rearing were folks like me , not too many as to become a chore and 100% effort to produce nice sociable companion birds , now its all about shoving a tube into the crop ( so not hand feeding at all ) and producing food dependant babies not well socialised companion birds .
Ive seen ads for places that have so many babies to choose from that none could be getting the attention needed to socialise properly .
The almighty $$$ has a way of stuffing things up for everybody including the birds .

Many Councils are getting tighter on "noisey" pets these days so even the budgie breeders are having noise issues. But I really can't see why anyone wouldn't enjoy the cheerful "noise" of Finches or Budgies chattering away. But maybe some of the cockies and roosters could be a problem on the modern suburban block.
And yes all boys need a shed, but mine has a 15m x 5m shed and it's full and no room for my stuff.

Yesterday we visited a parrot breeder to buy some gear he had for sale, he lives on a 5 ac block and has 100 aviaries all with different
parrots. He has been there for the past 25 years and now right opposite him there is a large housing estate being built on
and as he said he will be forced to move as the shire change the land from rural to urban.
All men need a shed, the bigger the shed the more we fill it up, it may look a mess but we know where everything is and also when someone has been in there
using our gear.
Cheers Greg.

I must have good neighbors then , every morning and evening its bloody loud out the back .
Worse than the Corella barking is the Quarrions I bought up from Vic that must have lived near an alarm of some sort , and of course they have taught the others so they all go off together .
With the Kaks making Tommy Gun noises it sounds like a crime scene at times ....love it .
