I'm afraid Deb, that what you say is so true. In my 30 plus years of my occupation (cop) society has degenerated into a dead set sh.t hole. No one says hello, cant leave the door open, kids cant walk to school and Cops get spat on and the new ones take it!!! If the cops cop it what hope have we? The unfortunate thing is that the RSPCA is NOT a government agency and relies on donations. The statutes in regards to animal care and protection are so obscure and spread through so much legislation that in all reality unless it is in the extreme it is just too hard and convoluted for the cops to get involved (unless its a dog bite which attracts media attention) because Mr and Mrs Joe Average dont count that as being a real issue. They think that noisy cars, graffitti and loud parties are the real bane of society. Go figure. Enough, I am over it. Going to vent my spleen to someone who will listen and wont talk back, my three dogs,Lizzie, Cookie and Lucky

Just saw ACA on Channel 9 and this has gone even further. A lady is claiming that the bird is hers and escaped some time ago. His name is Angus. The man involved is nicknamed "Parrotman" and when you see and listen to him it is evident the gene pool is pretty shallow. Any how RSPCA is on the case, hopefully ANGUS gets home to where he belongs if the claims of the lady are true. If not hope he goes to someone who will look after him properly and perhaps give him a friend if and when the RSPCA take him from the d..kheads care.

Yes saw the ACA interview , def not the full quid . Im sure Angus will be OK now , well lets hope . He certainly would make a great companion giving the way he has been treated and yet still affectionate to the parrot man ...should be known as bird brain for sure.

Regretfully you do not have to pass an IQ test to own birds or any sort of pets, but then maybe it's a compassion test that really matters. Do hope the RSPCA rescues this poor bird.

To be honest this bird needs to be surrendered to the Parrot Rescue Centre where they can evaluate the damage done by idiot humans and rehome him with people who have been screened and tuitioned on his needs or put in the retired birds part of the facility where he can live out his days in peace , with caring humans and maybe even a feathered friend or 2 . Well thats what I would like to see happen.

Didn't see the story...and don't want to either, so won't say much. But surely there is a dreary, windswept , god forsaken , sh**hole island out there somewhere that we can send these types of people to. Oops, hang on, on second thoughts...it would soon be overpopulated!

Lock him up and he gets a bed , food , education and probably a new set of teeth thrown in . Nah make him wear one of those old sandwich boards with something clever written on it so the world knows he is the idiot that tormented a defenseless bird .
Charge people for the privilege of throwing rotten fruit at him and then give the proceeds to the Parrot Rescue Centre .

OR

Tar and feather him and tie him to the front of a fast moving vehicle .

I'm sure you didn't mean it, but as someone who not so long ago had to say goodbye to his best mate who was treated like and respected almost as much as my own children from the day he arrived to us as an 8 week old till the day he crossed the bridge at 8yrs, I take great offence to this line!! :x

So many ignorant people really have no idea about dog breeds and are so quick to generalise. Our bullmastiff was anything but a trophy pet or intended status symbol. Trying to use a particular breed of dog to make your point is just low.
I could generalise you and say that because I've had some experiences with power trippers running high on additude in your line of work that you must be of the same character, but I won't.
Again, I'm sure you didn't mean it, but it's still very raw for me.

On the topic, the driver of the car/owner of that parrot must have a brain smaller then the poor bird. When I first saw it I thought 'well he's not flying away so he mustn't be scared' - but then the reporter said the bird had lost it's wings in a previous accident. So he can't even fly away. Disgraceful.

Oh OK BGreen I also mentioned that the bird didnt seem too distressed but that makes sense now ( lost a wing ) .

What sort of a life has this bird had then to already have lost a wing and what the heck is wrong with this picture ? The bird was not cheap to buy , the surgery to fix the wing would have cost a fortune and the owner had what 3 teeth in his head .

What worries me is if this idiot had kids that grew up seeing this crap ....another generation of half wits tormenting animals and not knowing any better .

Deb this person is the prime example of why I wish there was someway of an (oh no not another bunch of power trippers) authority having the ability to issue parenting licenses, if you don't have one you can't have kids.
But unfortunately that's just not even remotely possible and stupid people are able to reproduce freely, while some poor desperate stable people struggle to start a family. It so much harder to buy a pet or apply for a credit card then it is to have a kid and receive financial incentives to do so. On top of that, the lazier you are the more money you get.

Back onto the bird; a lady came out today and said the bird was hers. She claims it was 'stolen' from her front fence in January. So it is possible, and highly likely that this dope didn't even pay for the bird.
