well that is good to know, will have to keep an eye out. Mind you ours just nested for the first time in months and now both are flying aorund the aviary so guessing if there were eggs they haven't hatched. Saints are not around that often from what we have seen. good luck shopping Spanna. if you see any YH hens, in your travels can you let me know pls?

Another thing to consider is that the strawberrys will be breeding when everyone else is shutting down so if you were wanting to use an austerity period mid winter you won't be able to without depriving the strawbs of live food etc. (unless the strawbs get their own aviary).

Ok, cheers Danny. Get pretty hot summers here so austerity is usually then for me anyway if I feel they need a break.

On a couple of occassions I have purchased a pair of young Saints, and both times they grew into fine young cocks. So I have 3 boys here by the look of things. So if anyone out there wants to swap. Spanna did I read you wrong or are you putting each type in seperate avairys? In which case this should not be a problem.?

in each of my 2 aviaries i'm having 1 pr each of jacarinis, cordons and strawbs. was just wondering about compatibility of each of these as i haven't kept any of them before! wasn't sure if the jacarini could be as aggressive as its cousin!

Ah OK. Well yes I can see where you could have problems with Saints if they are a bit horrible then. Though if some are and some are not you could try 1 avairy with and 1 without? Good luck getting what you are looking for.

Jacs, Cordons & Strawbs should be ok together. Some Jacarini cocks will bully other finch fledglings a bit if they hang around the floor (which they often do for the 1st few days out). I've had a few pluck the tail feathers out of young fledgling Ruddies, Melbas & Painteds but no major harm done and only a few pairs which did this out of many. May just bear watching for individual temperaments.
