Sorry that is not an Australian yellow it is a sex linked European pastel ! Australian yellows have a white breast and is an autosomal recessive mutation .Different mode of inheritance . Just to confuse things pastel’s can also have the white breasted mutation as well. Have to know there breeding.

Sorry bout that the pet store guy that sold me it said it was an Australian yellow, I knew he wasn't an Aussie yellow but he is still very beautiful

Probably not anytime soon, it is a bit late in the season cause id prefer to buy them late December early January sorta thing once they've finished molting.

This is one of my purple breast fellows with the fussion Line. Sometimes with the purple breast the camera can play tricks making a red line appear where there isn't one really. Whenever in doubt catch the bird up and take a look. The red line is actual within the center of the feather. This is a for real fussion line.

I have noticed on some of my fledglings that have just starting to color up it is their reline that starts to come in first. I have never had a hen display the red line, only cock birds. Most paintings and drawings in old books of finches show this red line /fussion bar. It is a trait that has for the most part been lost with captive breeding.

I have male Aust Yellows(recessive) in all head colours with the red fusion line showing - photo is an example of AY BH male with red fusion line.
