Hi all,
Thnaks to those that have provided advice so far. Ok I have treated for asm and thought that it was gone after visual symptom abated. I done a followup treatment and thought I was on my way. Unfotunately the siskin is exhibiting the same symptoms and this time with a loud wheeze/nasally noise which seems akin to a sniffle. He is still garbbing at the air as if something is chocking him, worse when I appraoch as I suspect he stresses and his breathing becomes laboured and very wheezy. There is no night time clicking from what i can make out. Sometimes breathing is laboured anyway. I have him in a hospital cage on 28-30C ( but he is able to move away from this area if needs be and have been treating with Moxidectin, Tetracycline and some soluable vitamins etc but doesnt seem to be improving, appetite is good. None of the other siskins are showing these consistent symptoms. I have had others show these symptoms for a day or so and then it disappears whith or without treatment for ASM. Can anyone shed some further light or recomend a good bird vet Nth of Birsbane river and what should you be looking at for a general consult?? Someone recely suggested that this maybe a result of some of the greens I am feeding ie almost like a adverse reaction/allergy. Any further thoughts welcome
Cheers

I'm no vet, but if youv'e treated for ASM and still have symptoms, then i reckon it's time to consider other repiratory conditions. Top of my list would be a fungal infection of the airways such as Aspergillis. I'll leave treatment advice to those who know what they're talking about, as my experience in this area is quite limited.

Hi Trilobite,

Sorry I missed your post earlier.
If the bird is still going I'd recommend seeing Dr Adrian Gallagher at Brisbane Bird Vet in Chermside Ph: 3359 2233 if you're looking for someone north of Brisbane River.
Not sure what he charges, but he is very experienced both as a vet and aviculturist and very good.
