Read between the lines - A good pair will have a go even in very average conditions. The trick seems to be getting a really compatible pair to start. One of my pairs is at 20 odd youngsters, the other pair has had 2 young.Same aviary and conditions.

And for some reason different birds of the same type have different preferences. Have bred Painteds off and on for some years. Always in nest boxs. This pair I have now just wouldn't go down. Then last week I pruned the Mexically Rose (pink flowering creeper for the non plant types) Bundled the prunings up into a big ball and put in the corner of the avairy about 2/3 of the way up. Yep nesting happily already.

Thanks everyone got me very excited and great advice from all of you!!

Ive decided to get at least one more pair most likely 2 more :D I just love erm there such a good looking bird. And are the only reason i got a bird license...luckily it got me longtails aswell. But yea there my fav. Its like my plumheads i think i just got lucky with my pair. Herd similiar things about taking awhile to get compatable pairs.

ALso swapping a few birds for some diamond firetails very soon so hopefully i get it rite in the beginning as theres another one with pair incompatability. Ahwell if it was all to easy there wouldnt be the thrill.
