so long as the leg heals well the bird should be ok.
one of my most consistent breeding hens is a masked grassfinch who only has one toe left on one leg.
leg ring slipped down and cut off circulation and I didn't find her in time :rain:

The best thing for me and the bird now is to cut off his leg, it's completely broken right up to the hip and I can practically move it in circles.

Well I want to but my parents don't. Because the last time I brought some gouldians to the vet it Cost $150 and they ended up dyeing.
The bird has completely lost all feeling in the leg. And when I meant I can move it in circles I said that because it dangles by it self when I hold him.

If you have no intention of taking this poor bird to the vet to have this OPERATION done.......PLEASE PLEASE just put the poor bird out if its misery, it would probably die of shock anyway.

As much as I hate it, I'm going to have to do it.
BUT before that can I PLEASE get a vet to cut off his leg so he can have a chance at life.

Think about this, this is an operation not just "cutting off a leg"
If this was your leg would you like to have it taken off without anaesthetic?

Sounds like you are in a difficult position FM. but part of being a responsible animal owner is to do whatever it takes when the animals need care. if you can't or are not prepared to, then is it a good idea to have pets? I have never understood people that have pets put down because the cost of what is required is too much.
Can you come to an arrangement with your parents, that you pay them back over time? I hope you get the outcome you want. As BB said there is a high chance of the bird dying of shock anyway.

BB - I think Finchman was referring to putting the bird out of its misery himself, not cutting the leg off. :)
