At first glance I thought I was looking at a cross between a gould and a chook, Or reminds me of a english show budgie. Is different though, something that may take a bit to get used of to appreciate it.What I can defiantly appreciate first up is the work that one must have done to create a bird like that.

Deb Petes birds are big just becuz there looked after better then anyone else's birds I no. And also bred in outdoor avaries. Deb you know me 
you would respect pete his birds are big just through the love a care he puts in like yourself.
First pair I bought of pete fledged 6 young!! And I was a gouldian noobie. Having said that pete struggled this year like myself with the goulds. He's also heeding lotsa blue caps on frozen termites. Deb the guys a legend you would like him he goes that extra mile.

Debi agree! But for some reason his are just so strong a healthy. He feeds well. Gives them vitamins a all the good stuff. Nothing sinister tho like in breeding or anything just well cared for

Glad you didn't take me wrong Ben . It is just something I am curious about , heaven knows Id rather see bigger healthy birds than scrawny sickly looking ones .

WOW ...very nice birds and such deep colours .
They do look bigger but not freakishly large like some of the budgies getting about .

Peter's Gouldians may be healthy from how he feeds and maintains them but they are big because he selectively breeds towards bigger breeding birds by picking out the bigger birds to breed from. Food may add to condition but can't change the overall size of a bird unless it becomes obese (which I don't believe his birds are). I have discussed selective breeding extensively with Peter & he is very much into selective breeding to improve his birds.
