5 mls of Apple Cider Vinegar to 1 litre ..... I use it twice a week and put 5 mls into a 1.5 litre fizzy bottle of water ..... my water bowls have fizzy bottle inverted to replace water as its used.

cant really add a lot to the above, but i definitely rely on Sparky & probiotics immediately. only when they look completely destressed will I then worm them. If it's cool or they are fluffed up from stress or cold, I put a heater in the room for a couple of days so they arent wasting energy trying to keep warm. Keep them quiet, i wont even play the radio or music in the car on the way home. and i always have frozen milk seed on hand, it is 3 times more nutritious than dry seed. i make sure they get about a level teaspoon each every day, and i'm sure it makes a huge difference to the survival rate.

I plan on introducing my birds into the aviary tomorrow, or the day after. For the weekend they have been outside (out of the rain) and taken in at night, last night they were out untill about 8. Tonight should I leave them out all night? With a towel over them to keep the warmth in. The forecast tonight is 10. So yeah! Any help would be good!
Thanks~

6.53 pm now and very dark . They should be in their night time position already .
Id bring them in , actually I would have brought them in before dark .
Oh well that's me . Not to be mean but sometimes I think you youngins treat your aviary birds like pets . Birds like a sun up / sun down routine .

Okay! Currently in the cage there are 2 Nutmeg Mannikins and 2 Painted Finches.
The Cage faces North-west. It is an odd shape, being a sorta "L" shape, with part of it being tucked in a nook between the side of the House and the neighbors fence. The birds are in the nook right now, so the only wind that will reach them is a North-Westerly Wind coming from the open face. The cage is the one we used to have a hand-raised cocktiel in. It is about 60x20x40 and fully wire. It has some Tea Tree and some perches in it, along with food and Spark Water.
I hope that helps

They will be fine in my opinion, leave them now, dont go out and put towel over them, you'll startle them. The is no wind in sydney tonight and the bad one is the south westerly. There's four of them they cuddly up nicely together. I'm pretty confident they will be fine. Its not the cold that worries the birds its the cold wind and not be able to get out of the draught. Remember NRG what are doons filled with, the answer is feathers cause its a natural warming source.

Have they completed a full course of worming? If you are using a Levamisole/Praziquantel based wormer they, will need to be dosed twice, 14 days apart. Been treated for Air Sac mite? Coccidia? How long since they recieved their last dose of medication?

I'm "bumping" this thread to explore a little further. Several sales in several weeks mean birds from a variety of sellers and an undersupply of useful quarantine spots (shed and garage are both poorly lit naturally and turning lights on and off impractical). Is it considered OK to put birds from a variety of sellers bought on the same day into the same very sheltered quarantine aviary after a few days if they all seem OK and if all have had spark and the first dose of moxydectin?
It was easy in my parrot days, one pair per flight effectively quarantined them anyway
