What was your reaction when you saw your first free flying Hummingbird.
I remember mine so clearly, I saw it and said look at the size of that American Bumble Bee
Then I realised it was a Hummingbird and have been gobsmacked ever since.
Until you have actually seen one live you really can not comprehend how small some of the are.

E Orix,
I saw my first one in Mexico and at first thought it was a big wasp or hornet, then it landed on a twig and I realised what it was. Reaction? Just plain gobsmacked to comprehend what I was looking at, but to actually hold one- different story. Unable to describe my feelings. My missus in the end told me to shut up about the stupid birds when I went on and on and on about it. The funny thing is the locals just take them for granted because anywhere there is flowers there seem to be humming birds. I suppose if we reverse the situation they would feel the same when they see our array of natives which we take for granted. Anyhow Hummingbirds are just awesome, pictures and docos don't do them justice until you see them in real life.
