I would get them from birdsvill,
They have hole cages full of them there they have atleast 100 stubble quail.
And no you don't need a licence in NSW.

I think they would be Japanese quail, Nathan. normals look quite similar

No they were stubble quail I know my birds and they were definatly stubble quail.

If Birdsville is the one on Gardner's Road (In Rosebery) then all the time that I have been there, the quails that they've stocked have been King, Common and Japanese... Japanese do look very similar...

Though I have seen some rarities (Like Swift Parrot) at BIrdsville, so you never know...

I saw what I saw and it was a Stubble quail and I even called them and they sed that they had them. And they were $80 a pair.

hey deb. its absolutely not turning into a fight. in my eyes nathan is (assumedly very) young and like many young people with a new hobby, he is somewhat overzealous in his bird keeping. he often asks a question and if he doesn't hear the answer he wants he ignores the advice and waits until someone says something that suits his plans and he runs with that. i don't think anyone is being mean or picking on nathan, but a number of people (including myself) are being firm on their advice - chill out, calm down. look after the birds you have and learn, before rushing out and getting more. this is really responsible advice i think.

now since nathan seems so often defiant in the face of this continued advice (a case in point is that this conversation is taking place on a thread about his plans to acquire stubble quail, despite a number of other threads where he is advised emphatically to stop purchasing birds) - i think its okay that a few people politely questioned that he may have made a mistake regarding the species he saw "hundreds of".

its important for us adult members to remember that nathan is a child. and if it comes across as if he's being spoken down to, thats because thats what adults do to children. but its not necessarily impolite. and so long as all of the adult members remember that, much like in real life, adults speak differently to children as they do their peers - then there is absolutely no need for anything to turn into a "$hit fight". i have seen far to many forums fall to pieces over arguments between adults that revolve around issues relating to child members. it would be a terrible shame if the same happened here.

And that is what I am doing but dont you think it is ok to have a pair of stubble quail becouse they are torestrial and ocupy a compleatly different part of the aviary. And I am 100% sure they were stubble quail.

I think you will find and Nathan will agree that I have been firm with him on matters where birds welfare is at risk .
I totally agree that it is up to the adults to educate him . I myself have been hard on him but at the same time will always give credit to him where its due.

However it seems that everytime he posts something, controversy arises .
Yes he does push until the answer is acceptable to him which is something I have bought to his attention before .
Yes he is defiant and I have also mentioned this to him .
I see him the same way as other adults here and if you go through the posts you will see he has been corrected by me a few times.


However this time around I dont think he needed to be questioned over where he saw the Stubbles for sale .
Yes educate the kid, but no lets not rip into him everytime he makes a comment . The other juniors need not be jumping on him over where he saw them for sale .

Its wasn't nice and they have no proof to back up the assumption that they were not Stubbles ... I'm sorry but it annoyed me .
