Cheapest $3 was Sodderbergs Finches ... good book for 1956 .
Bought that in 1956 . . when I was about J-bird's age . . and still have it
Knew it would be a good investment, I paid 19/9 (19 shillings & 9 pence . . roughly $2) for it by the price on the inside cover
Up to $3 already

Mine isn't 'mint' but would call it 'good' . . add 10% premium
But long ago lost the dust-jacket . . knock off 10%

Posted in response to Outsider's reference to the old trappers . . and Deb's plea that more 'folklore' be recorded
"BIRDMAN . . The Hilarious Misadventures of Laurie Friswell" . . by David 'Scoop' Hooper . . The Ninderry Press, 2004
A 'Keystone Kops' saga about a lovable larrikin, whose only enemies (apart from himself) were the 'fauna pharisees'
While it will never make a best-seller list, this book is an easy read and gives some insight into some aspects of the way things used to be(??)
Probably available at secondhand outlets, e-bay, etc . . ??
