It flew on to your property so its your bird there’s no way to tell where it came from.

Thanks Nathan
You should still try; Hand out posters to the vets, the local shops, checking if anyone has records of the numbers on the rings, or see if it has a microchip...

Harvey I would take it out of the aviary as soon as possible and put it in a cage on its own.
It needs be quarantined and it might not be used to other birds. Some parrots even attack finches.
Finch seed is better than nothing at the moment, but it might be a good idea to offer some fruit maybe, even some bread along with finch seed. This will give you time to get a small amount of the correct food for it tomorrow, unless you know of someone who has parrots and they will give you some till you find the owner.

If you do advertise that you have found it just say what kind of bird it is don't mention the leg band or the number on it. The real owner should know that, that is one way you can be sure of returning it to the right owner.
Keep an eye on the Petlink board, sometimes owners will advertise if they have lost a bird on there.

Watch your fingers! :D

Harvey,
If you can't find an owner you should keep it. Are it's wings clipped ?.

Thanks Nathan

What are the chances of this bird having a micro chip??????

If i take it to my local vet will he be able to check???

The bird is very hungry.

Now i think of it when the bird was next door it did fly but not very well only a short distance,if the wings are clipped thats could mean the owner is close????

Sorry for all the questions

Harvey, you are a champ.
Top form looking for the owner, and not succumbing to the greedy urge to keep it.
This will only redound well on you; Bravo.

Its worth a try Harvey, give the vet a ring and see if they will swipe it for you. Tell them its a lost bird and I wouldn't think they would charge you for that. You might also be able to get a small bag of food at the vets for it too.

Well done you for trying to do the right thing and finding the owner.
Ive just been checking Pet link and haven't found anything there yet.
Let us know how you get on, seems like you have got it sorted already.

Just a thought, it might seem tame at the moment but that could be because its tired and just really glad to get a meal and some water.

There ya go Harvey , all good advice .
You've done everything right mate and now a door knock , some flyers up and a call to the local vets to spread the word you have found it .

After that if no one claims it then its up to you as to whether you want to keep it , they are a bit different to finches.

Ill bet someone is very upset at the moment and missing their little bird .

I doubt it would be microchipped but it wont hurt to ask the vet , the assistant at the desk will probably do this for you and at no charge.

Your a good kid Harvey and I have no doubt the birds welfare will come first ...Keep us posted OK .
