BOOMER silly long billed corrella who is just silly, found attacking moving cars at Balmain

amalan11,
What types of finches do you keep and what are the measurements of your aviary?.
Thanks Nathan

I have one portable avery that is 1.5/1/1 m and it has 10 zebs,8 societys,2 spices,1 red face,1 chestnut, 1 canary , 4 stars and fem crimson
then I have 2 large breeding cages:
one has 2 emblemas,and 8 orange breasts
another has 2 jacarinis,2 emblemas and 7 double bars
one large cage 100/60/60 cm on wheels with 4 longtails and 2 emblemas
2 standard breeding cages one with male crimson the other with a pair of taninbars
I know the cages are considered crowded but I was told that was fine when I brought birds there seems to be dispute on that point. They all get on fine I find they breed, alredy iv had tanninbars, societys, zebs and double bars fledge and im pretty sure 3 pairs of orange breasts are nested at the moment.
I cannot have an avery as im right on the cooks river and rats here get into averys iv had them get through mouse proof wire and they can wipe out every bird you have in a night

Mice and keeping them out of avairys can be a big problem for many of us. But if you can use more of the portable avairys 1.5/1/1 they would be better for most of your birds than the cabinets. Maybe that way you can have a portable avairy per type?

yes iv been putting away money to get 4 or 5 more of the 60x60 tall ones that the longtails are in by october.
worked out I can get for $475 delivered .Im thinking one will have to be covered in extra wire for the doublebars and orange breasts as the bars are to wide but other than that it will be fine and it will give them a lot more room. Im going to take societys/parrot finch out to own cage which gives a lot more room in there ,move the emblemas into another and the other one for jacarinis and perhaps tanninbars and one spare in case its needed

Definately can't keep Orange breasteds behind bars
as opposed to behind wire. Remember several years ago catching the young and putting them into a small cage to move to the holding cage so mum and dad could get down to business again.
Was very puzzled as I had just caught 1 more than I had.
Turned arround to see 1 slipping sideways through the bars.
Well I haven't made that mistake again, and thank goodness they did it while still in their parents avairy.
