Thought I had 3 pairs but watching them the other day noticed the female white faced pied is actually a male and making a play on one of the girls....that means 4 boys and 2 girls....with the budgies bought a lovely yellow faced that I was assured was female....still not 100% on that as "she" still has a very blue cere lol

Tell me about it ...Put a spare male in and had to remove my bonded pair who went straight to the nest box YAY leaving 3 ...put a spare girl in today and the supposed boys are begging to be preened , cleaning out nest boxes and showing off a treat so after that we now assume 3 boys

.
So if all goes to plan whoever is left after some lucky boy pairs of with the girl ...one will get a yet to be purchased girl and the other goes back to being my spare which a g/f has dibs on anyway .
Fingers crossed I have solved the puzzle .And in the meantime the breeding season ticks .

Pilot that seems to work for me up till today ...The boy having prepared a lovely nest box has gone into territorial mode and instead of the usual head scratch and kisses he got me a beauty . No blood but a bruise Ill bet .

This breeding season has seen a real Jekyll and Hide thing happening in my aviaries ...
My Princess Parrots want to kill any other bird in sight yet are all over me for attention , my beautiful hand reared Quarrions want to tear skin off me .
Musks want to take my eyes out and R/Rumps just want to be as far away from as possible , Emblemas are building some hideous structure which will be the death of them carrying huge pieces of bark and god only knows what else they have in the so called nest .
The rest of the gang seem normal so far however the Corella has started clucking like a chicken instead of her usual barking like a dog and she spends more time hanging upside down than a fruit bat

Even crazier my old Cinnamin boy is sitting on the eggs by day and the hen sits by night ...total role reversal

Well, my zebras had their chick fledge recently, and straight when the chicks had fledged, the hen started laying eggs! Now the male has to look after the chick, and the hen just sits on her eggs all day
