I have no idea how the opaline gene in Redrumps takes the red from the bum and puts it on the back but i must admit to liking this mutation in RR parrots.Nice young ones and its really interesting with the two looking so different, thanks for posting pics :thumbup:

The first one is an opaline & the 2nd is Lutino opaline, hence the difference.

Tiaris are they sex linked genes ? Will the Lutino be a girl and the Opaline boy ? Ive been reading on it and still cant get my head around it all .

Am catching up on Quarrion genetics though . :thumbup:

Lutino is sex-linked so the paler lutino opaline would be a hen if both parents are not lutinos. I don't know the mode of inheritence for opaline. I also find opaline to be an attractive mutation in red-rumps despite not being impressed by many mutations generally. My daughter begged me to also include this smiling puppy :puppy:

Opaline Grassies can be one of the most attractive mutation in the Red Rumps, especially the Opaline Lutino, but can also be one of the ugliest. Nice looking young their Deb.
