I recently cleaned out the excess grass in an big aviary that I had not recalled seeing a jacarini in for many years - when the grass was cut back there was seven of them. Yep, they are shy.

just had a similar experience. I went into the back covered area of the aviary today, which I generally leave alone because it is where most finches breed, and sitting in a fairly open position is a little cocoanut fibre cup with 2 fat jack chicks in it about half metre off the ground. I was wondering why the consumption of gentles an mealworms had gone through the roof.
