Doctor...but never made it.

Butcher shop, then greengrocer shop (at school jobs), then library technician, then hospital orderly, then library technician (at uni jobs) then science teacher, then computer studies lecturer / educator, then systems analyst / accountant, then finance manager, then photo shop owner, now children's / schools photographer. Degrees in education (environmental science), information sciences & accounting.

Not sure which of those was the wrong turn at Albuquerque .

Been into birds for longer than I've been working though.....

Wanted to be a vet....ended up doing Zoology at uni but finished my degree in the middle of the "recession we had to have" so no jobs went back and started a masters in environmental science but never finished cos I started the family....lots and lots of different retail and other things during school and uni, ended up working in a bank then took retrenchment, then dog grooming business, currently single mum but next year the youngest starts school so will be looking for part time work and possibly going back to uni....so I feel like a kid starting over again lol

I still do not know what i will be when i grow up!!
As a kid i mostly wanted to be a mounted Police officer.My math and biology failed at school so my vet dream died there.I then went onto having 5 children and now they are all nearly in school i have had to really think about what i want to do.At 34(35 on the 24th!!)I have no idea what to do!!

haven't decided... but I know I want to buy a massive property and create a reserve... even got a plan in writing! All that's needed is the cash... .... I might be an avian vet but that would mean going to vet school. not nice, as I'm allergic to rabbits, mice, rats, cats, horses etc. ect.!

Never had any great plan, left school at 16, office work, farm hand, gardener, office again.Then at 35 I took on a Service Station/Garage, worked long
hard hours for the next 15yrs, sold out and moved to country seaside town where I did a bit of whatever and a lot of fishing. Moved back to the city 2yrs
ago and at 70 have just discovered the joys of keeping finches.

Blimey a few vet wannabes... and yep, me too. A few family issues going on as I finished school and somehow I ended up doing Maths at Uni. Worked as a high school teacher for many years. For the past 10 years or so I've operated my own business - writing software and textbooks for high schools.
Bird wise - started with budgies as a youngster (did the selective breeding/show thing for a while) and a few zebs mixed in with some wild caught double bars (not sure if it was legal even then). Got caught up messing about with the 2 legged variety for too many years. Once I got over all that nonsense, I got serious and started on the finches and never looked back!

I always wanted to be a National Parks Ranger. I ended up being a surveyor.

I kept budgies for 20 years but as of 2 days ago I got my first finches thanks to Sam.

I also wanted to be a vet. Moving interstate and back part way through year 10 buggered up my education a little. Did the equivalent at TAFE the following year, then Cert III in Horse Care & Husbandy. Then did a couple of Business Administration Certificates. Workwise started out as a stable hand, then worked in pet shops, then admin for the last 4 years. Still would love to be a vet but cant afford to study. Maybe one day.... I am 25 now, so still got a little while to go til I grow up . Always had animals since I was very young. Including birds of course!

At 25 are you eligible for the mature age student thing? Not sure if vet studies are on the list but all is not lost. At 25 you are still a baby. Don't give up on the dream!

when I was growing up I wanted to be a bank robber,until about the age of 15, then i wanted to join the army did all the tests and was told i was a little young and did not quite get in the highest percentile.So i never achieved my dreams unfortunately .And have since then decided to try to get work in the highest paid jobs in my town,this i have achieved to some degree. To all the youngsters out there who may be thinking of being a bank robber remember money doesn't buy you happiness although it gets you off to a start.
