I know this sounds quite callous but if I were in your shoes Id test run some normal gouldians for at least a year before spending up on blues , WHY ? well because then you can see if your aviary is situated correctly and draught proof enough to keep them alive also it gives you experience with them that will be needed for the more chellenging mutations .

As much as losing any bird is a heartache losing big dollar birds could mean the end of your hobby ..of course this is only my opoinion and based on my bird budget.

You kinda have to crawl before you can walk ...of course if you go ahead with the blues I wish you all the luck in the world and hope you do well :thumbup:

Not callous at all. Many others have said similiar! I've decided to go with split to blue pairs. Ill set the aviary up to the best possible requirements for the birds and give it a go. I've got lots of information so far and will follow all of that and see how I go.
