Good blog Shane and Sam. It's too bad it took so long for someone to do something more, than complain about a photograph of a bird in an unkempt cage, next to show cages. Those post have deleted. It least they shook a hornets nest. And Shane, overall the best defense is an offence. You made the offence clear.

Roma, it's not surprising breeders in you area are not aware of this. If they were aware, or any other breeders, I'm not so sure the law would have been passed with the wording as it is. Often to many are trying to be the all knowing, and things like this happen. While breeders were not aware of it, many, many pet people are. It least the ones I've met and have given birds to. Good on you for spreading the word.

Thanks to all who are stepping up to the plate to put this matter back into proper perspective.

My had goes off to Sam for all his great work he has put into this challenging the Victorian authorities. Its a shame other major bird clubs have not challenged them on this topic to try and have the legislation amended.

Still no response to the FSA submission so another phone call this morning. The Minister's Secretary, Katrina was again most helpful and sympathetic this morning. Here is my email as followup to the phone call.
Sam Davis wrote:Hi Katrina,

Thanks again for chasing up our Ministerial response. It is now in excess of 3 months since lodging our submission.

During our call this morning you mentioned officers/advisers working in this area. I would appreciate contact details or alternatively please pass on my details. We are now at a stage where a meeting with relevant officers would be appreciated to progress resolution of this issue.

Our initial submission is once again attached…

Kind regards,

Sam Davis

Sick of waiting for others to make progress on this issue, so we (FSA) have fired off our reply to the Minister as follows...
