Good on you Sam and on Shane for his blog. And may common sence (which is not as common as we would like) win the day.

Thank you very much for your responce Sam, I do not know why Victorians are so $hit scared of our Government. Make a stand people and stand up for your RIGHTS.
I am not trying to incite people but come on, we have birdsales coming up in March 16, how long should we put up with their incompetence. Craig

Once again, thank you Sam, for continuing to follow up this issue with the Minister's office. Well done on pointing out the Minister's incompetence in the handling of this matter.

I have been told by someone who is involved with this saga that submissions have been forwarded to Jaala Pulfords department but due to Annual leave nothing has been accomplished and it has been put forward a few months so don't count on selling your foreign birds this year. Typical of Government to stretch it out so we lose another year, it's in their ballpark now nothing anybody can do other than temp the beast. :shh: :o Craig

I've said it before but I really do think some organised "civil disobedience" is required on this issue to bring it to a head & to directly challenge it in the short-term. The bureaucracy responsible has already proven that they are happy to fob you off until the cows come home & the only ones stressed by it will be those being ignored. Don't play their game. They have drawn the line in the sand without justification. At least make a genuine threat to them that if they do not immediately examine and repeal the ridiculous regulation which has no justification that a united group of aviculturists are prepared to sell exotic birds at properly organised bird sales as is their right. If they choose to cast you aside in the face of reasoned and justified pleas for sensible remedial action, they are the enemy. That being the case, my advice is to fight them outside of their rules of engagement. Nothing will alarm a senior public servant more into retreat than the very real prospect of their proud new regulation being rendered inadministerable by an angry and non-compliant chunk of the electorate making waves for their bosses.

Well I find that absolutely bulls--t. Well I thought everyone was getting on to this ive signed numerous pertitions and sent emails when the big shot rspca stopped us selling birds in the uk, when bird flu broke out we got around it by selling the boxes birds came free. Anyway who is really going to inforce it. Finch keeping I believe is already on a downward spiral this just helps it along. evil:

Apologies for not updating this thread.

There was a definite and defiant reaction from the bureaucracy to my reply dated 26/11/2015 (see link to the letter above). This led to various phone calls and emails from senior management. Although little has been achieved in real terms this exchange has unwittingly uncovered further evidence to support our case.

I am unaware and have not been informed of any further correspondence or progress by other representative groups. My strategy at present is to continue with ongoing requests for a face-to-face meeting with the Minister and with the Manager - Domestic Animals. We have much evidence to present once some sort of civil exchange becomes possible.

Regards,

My thoughts exactly Tiaris but the organisers of our bird sales are the frightened one's for fear of penalties and having the sales shut down on the day if ignoring the law thereby not being able to sell our natives. It is the responsibility of local Government/Council to police this not DELWP although representatives are usually there so a mine field. If you can understand this situation that the club organisers would be the ones penalised for doing a disservice to their members as well as to the clubs finances of which bird sales are the main contributor. Catch 22..........Craig
