Jayburd - I've just mowed a couple of acres of that seeding "Panic veldt". Just left a bit to cut for the finches. And when you say the painteds are building again does that mean they've already fledged some chicks? Mine usually reuse the same nest.

Hey sam. Nope, what I THINK was a painted nest (may not have been) that I saw in the brush a while ago has been abandoned, and they appear to have built a new one. they seem to like this one though
male was sitting in there all morning at the entrance basking in the sun.

If u want any more root stock of that 'winter' grass just yell and I'll send u up some................no $$$ required!!
We have heaps of pots of it and cycle it through the aviaries.............plenty to spare!!!

The way they're going through it I might need to make it our new lawn!!!!
I'll let you know when I've cycled all the pots through as to how long it takes me to grow them back enough to put them back in...

Only winter grass I used to plant was Bent grass (Agrostis stolonifera)...we used to oversow Couch with it...Bent came up in winter then spring summer it was Couch again...
