EORIX that was a close call, especially after the recent storm damage your big aviary suffered.

Wish I could post some pictures of dead rats. They must be dying somewhere at my place as they have eaten 5 boxes of rat bait in a week. I have caught 5 mice in traps though. Tomorrow we will start digging to see if we can find any nests or tunnels. E Orix, what sort of rat bait stations do you use in your avairy? When we have sorted out the problem in mine I would like to have some in their just in case they find another way in. Another thing I was wondering is how keep the bird seed under some sort of control. I use cockatoo stands to feed my birds putting the bird seed in dishes but I find alot of it ends up on the ground which probably attracts the mice. Is there some sort of feeder out there that keeps the wastage/overflow to a minimum?

I have cat litter trays with a wire insert that feeders are sat in and the spilt seed falls through the birdwire insert into the tray and gets emptied when full catches 90% of spilt seed.tbird wrote: Is there some sort of feeder out there that keeps the wastage/overflow to a minimum?

I use the cat trays too, ($2 @ Cheap as Chips)
I did see something at Bunnings the other day that struck me could work fairly well as a big seed catcher, if it was set up in an aviary it would look something like the pic gomer has posted in the link above. Bunnings are marketing it as a small workspace to mix potting soil, because Ive had a sleep since I saw it means I cant remember how much it was
Ive checked the Bunnings site but cant find a pic of it.

Thanks. I will buy a cat litter tray tomorrow.
Just thought I would post a picture of my very friendly finch. Whenever I walk past the window he flies onto the inside ledge to sit and say hi. Luckily he wasn't taken by the rat. I took this photo about 2 weeks ago.
