The vets here contact wires also ...and vice versa only thing is WIRES has to wait for permission to take an injured bird to a vet .

I have passed on all the info to the person with the bird. And have decided to leave it in their hands. It is not worth the trouble and risk taking this bird myself. Its a shame these do gooders make it to difficult for someone to help a basket case bird. But at the end of the day, I will not risk loosing what I have to keep myself a bird that could jeopardise this.

I don't think that's quite correct Deb.

Every animal has the right to receive veterinary attention regardless of its species or status.

We certainly receive hundreds of wildlife cases per year brought in by WIRES, Sydney Wildlife or members of the public, without prior permission.

Deb, I think you will find that your local carer would have to ask her wires PRESIDENT or TREASURER or whoever holds the purse strings as to whether funds are available at the moment. Otherwise they have all members taking animals/birds to vet's with no accurate records, just bills coming in and not knowing what they are for. That's how our lot around here work anyway. Some vet's do charge a minimal amount for wildlife cases.
