Hawfinch 001 (640x480).jpg
Hawfinch 002 (640x480).jpg
Hawfinch 003 (640x480).jpg
As mentioned earlier these are the photos I took of the female Hawfinch that I had in my collection well over 30 years ago. It's showing a little wear and tear and I doubt if it will breed seeing its getting close to 40 years old.

Maybe a bit of preening and she may attract a cock bird easier.

How come they evolved into such a big head?
Is there something they eat in the wild that requires a bit more beak power?

Well they do look unique. I'm tipping they were a bit hard to breed so that's why they aren't around anymore so how hard are they to breed Eorix? Any special foods needed.

Sorry Orix but she's a bit stuffed, interesting bird though and is it named after what it eats (Hawthorn seed/fruit)? Craig
