As the availability of some finches is better in some states/locations that others, I feel it is not unexpected that prices also will vary from state/place to state/place. Of course you can export or import (statewise) if you prefer. But easy access and being able to look at the birds pays a part in what people charge/pay.

Price differs a lot state to state, for NSW i usually use the QLD price guide but as finch breeders, they are your birds, you name the price as long as it is reasonable and ensures that you will be able to sell them, I've seen some people advertising birds such as Cubans for $140a pair (no way i would pay that) in SA whereas in NSW the average price is around $50-65 a pair, this just goes to show the huge price differentiation over different states.

I just bought a pair of Cubans over here and paid $40 for the pair..You're right though, $140 is ridiculous.

The Finch Society of Australia (FSA) Guide to Finch Prices NSW/ACT 2014 is complete. Thanks to Simon Degenhard of Australian Aviary Life for fronting with the money to produce this year's guide.

All FSA branches and affiliate clubs now have copies for all their members which they'll distribute with their magazines and/or at upcoming meetings. So if you're a member of any of the following clubs you'll get one very soon.

As FSA President it really was a pleasure to compile this guide due to the cooperation and support from all clubs involved. AFF has also played a role by connecting many who would never otherwise have met. It's encouraging to see clubs working together and I hope it spills over into many more projects.
